Sorry but I just don’t agree with submission fees for these contests it just looks like yet another way to fleece people.
There are plenty of free contests out there and if the winning entry is that good they are probably more than capable of remixing it themselves.

Hey John, thanks for the feedback. Zoxsy actually has a bunch of free contests, but the expenses on this one are much more due to duplicating 1000 CDs and distributing them all over the world. Even with a $5 fee, we will probably still lose over $1000 on this promotion not to mention providing the entire Zoxsy platform for free. We also felt that $5 was extremely artist friendly as most contests I’m aware of cost $20-$35 per song and the prize is often less than what we are offering.
On your other point, the remixes are a way to have multiple versions of the same song. In electronic music who remixed your song is often as important as who created it in the first place. It’s quite an honor to have two highly respected DJs such as Speaker Junkies and Quivver remix your song and can give the artist that created it a lot of clout with fans and in the industry. I’d love to know what you think in light of our response.

That’s a fair defence but I still don’t agree with fees in contests as it excludes people who can no longer plough money into their music for whatever reason but I do see that the good things you do on this site far outweighs the bad so I guess they even each other out
